THE PROGRAM

We have a new program for a cohort of key manufacturing / trade/ engineering/ food & Bev/ Agri and industrial focused businesses on the Sunshine Coast to step into a place of learning and growth through educational workshops, quarterly advisory board meetings and face to face mentoring.

The Next Level Panel consists of some of the brightest and most connected minds on the Sunshine Coast who all have vast experience across multiple industries in a variety of capacities.

Educational workshops as required form the basis for good conversation at quarterly advisory board meetings and help identify constraints that the companies might not have considered as a barrier to success.

Your Chair spends and entire day with you as soon as you join so get the baseline, then she will spend 2 hours with you each month discussing the business and ensuring you are kicking your goals and working on the solutions to the problems you raise in the quarterly board meeting. Accountability is key!

Why this criteria?

We know that companies that are starting to make more revenue and engage more staff after a few years of good trade experience bottlenecks that can cause significant barriers to success. This type of company often reaches out to consultants and advisors to ask for help.

What then happens is that the advisors (sometimes multiples) work on projects in a solo capacity, often asking the same questions and reaching sometimes differing conclusions.

An Advisory board of experienced consultants eliminates this because we are all working towards the same goal cohesively.

The advisors on our panel are free to work with the companies in the program (under their own commercial arrangement) but we ensure that the works completed are tailored towards the overall goals set by the board and move towards solving the core problems identified by the company throughout the program.

Advisor Selection

The specific Advisors who will attend a board meeting will depend on the problem the company identifies for that quarter. We curate the board members who will best help solve the curly problem being experienced and requiring to be worked through.

This means you have an Advisory Board that morphs with your company as you scale. You are not stuck with the same Advisors (but bear in mind our network is small and so we will all still know exactly who you are so repeating yourself if not something you’ll need to do).

Mentoring Matters

Each company will also be given a 2 hour mentoring session with the Chair to keep you on track every month. Your Chair is there to guide you, keep you motivated to achieve change and align you to solutions you may not be aware exist. This can be a Zoom call so you avoid taking too much time out of your month to accommodate this.

Educational Workshops

Each GOLD LEVEL company is given the opportunity attends workshops (up to 4 times a year) to absorb critical gaps in their knowledge – this enhances better decision making and more robust board room table discussions. We vote on the topics between the participants

All workshops are held locally at a specific venue with lunch and drinks provided and included in the cost.

Quarterly Board Meetings

LOCATION

Each company gets a private quarterly board meeting held at their own location.

We will cater for this meeting

ADVISOR SELECTION

Businesses can choose 2 or 3 panel members plus the Chair to attend this meeting.

Each quarter you can choose a different panel member to attend depending on the constraints you are experiencing at the time.

This means your board  morphs as your company scales.

This is a unique system that most advisory boards do not offer. The versatility and range of experts enable you to scale up faster with more clarity.

Board meetings use Board Pro Software*

This means the agenda is set at least 7 days prior and shared with the Advisors sow e are all prepared for the next Advisory board meeting.

This helps with task accountability too.

We create 90 day plans that stem from the overarching One Page Plan we create in the Discovery session

This is worked on in the Mentoring sessions and is prepared ready for the next Advisory Board meeting

Private Mentoring + Accountability

The thing that glues this process together is taking the education, planning, board meetings and the 90 day plans we create from the board meetings and having someone on side to ensure that the tasks outlined in the plan are actually executed.

Each company gets 2 hours mentoring each month

The last mentoring session of the quarter is preparation for the board meeting where we set the agenda and choose the advisors.

    Each GOLD LEVEL company is invited to attend a Queensland Leaders networking event in Brisbane with the Chair at no extra cost

    Each GOLD LEVEL company gets access to the Advisory Board Centre’s State of The Market Report.

    Participating GOLD LEVEL businesses can also opt to be taken through the Advisory Board Centres board starter program that Angie is qualified to deliver. This helps companies to set up their own board at the end of the 12 month program using what they have learned as the model.

    Colin Graham

    Developing innovative businesses and regions.

    Colin Graham is the founder of Causeway Innovation – developing innovative businesses and regions - and he was previously the Founding CEO of the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast. Colin works with growth businesses and startups across Australia in a wide range of sectors including digital, food and beverages, clean technology and health. Work typically focuses on growing the business through a clear strategy and innovation and developing pathways for an exit.


    He has also delivered strategy and innovation courses at QUT and the
    University of the Sunshine Coast. His business career started in marketing where he was International Product Manager for ICI Dulux near London before leaving to be the co-founder and CEO of Yellowbrick Training with clients such as Deloitte, GE and Unilever in the UK and N. America. He worked with the Career Innovation Group in Oxford and ran the ePeople project exploring innovative work cultures and running a forum for Global Staffing Directors from major companies in Silicon Valley.


    He set up a Business Incubator – awarded ‘Best Business Support Program’ in the UK in 2001 - and ran the MBA New Venture Creation Class for the Rober Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland.


    In 2002, he migrated to Australia to be the founding CEO of the Innovation
    Centre Sunshine Coast - which has supported over 220 startups to date. He is a past Chair of the Sunshine Coast branch of the Australian Institute of
    Company Directors with 450 local members primarily from small businesses.

Guy has been a frequent contributor to BIAC (Business at OECD) Investment and Responsible Business Conduct meetings, is currently Vice Chair for the BIAC SME Committee, and is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) through affiliation with ICC Australia as a member of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

    Felicity Burns

    I am passionate about the creative industries, innovation, and strategic communications in business. My experience spans across education and marketing communications.

    I have managed, designed, and led multiple programs in entrepreneurship, innovation, marketing communications and public relations.

    Since 2022 working with the University of Southern QLD, I have been working with over 350+ industry partners to deliver research, innovation and entrepreneurship projects and programs.  Directly working with Chambers of Commerce, TSBE, council, investors, Government (Advance QLD and the Chief Entrepreneur’s Office), social enterprises, tourism, and local SMEs to create and innovate in the regional Queensland.

    In Higher Education and the training sector, I have initiated and developed many exciting projects working with students, academics, and industry across Australia and globally. I have organised and led Industry Research Projects, professional development workshops and incubator/ accelerator programs. I have had further opportunities to lead and develop national accredited training programs across Australia and been able to input my creativity and vision into these new programs, working directly with industry partners.

    I enjoy strategy development, enhancing work with the use of technology and creative communications. I generally love working with business owners to support them with achieving their goals. I currently own a publishing company in the UK and accelerator program called Start Us Up to support start-up businesses in Australia.

    Mark co-founded SunCoast Angels in 2017 and the Silicon Coast group in 2014 (following the successful inaugural Startup Weekend SC which the Innovation Centre and UniSC organised in 2014). Mark was recognised as an Innovation Champion by Advance Queensland and was a mentor in the Queensland Government’s Mentoring 4 Growth Program.

    Gavin Keeley

    Gavin Keeley is an experienced technologist and business leader with a career spanning 4 decades in international consultancy and executive corporate roles across a diverse range of industry sectors, working in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.

    He has been at the (b)leading edge of commercialising emergent technologies, from the advent of the Personal Computer, through internet, cloud computing, to pioneering the commercial deployment of emergent Large Language Model AI and computer vision in classified Defence Intelligence projects since 2015.He has consistently been an early adopter, and has been featured in articles, and spoken
    at conferences for several decades.

    He has continually supported Queensland for instance having researched, then lobbied Federal, State, and Local Government for seven years, to establish an undersea fibre optic connection direct to the internet, with the network finally commissioned and operational in March 2020. He co-founded the Silicon Coast group in 2014, which has over 2,000 supporters, where he continues to mentor founders and support the growth of the region’s Digital Economy, and has also served as The President of SunCoast Angels.

    In 2018, he was made a member of the Queensland Pearcey Entrepreneur Hall of Fame then in 2021 was inducted as a Fellow into the Australian Computer Society Hall of Fame for his distinguished contribution to the field of ICT in Australia, and in 2022 he was given a special achievement award by the Queensland Chief Entrepreneur for consistently contributing to a connected and inclusive Queensland innovation ecosystem.

    He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of The Sunshine Coast, serving as a current member of the Planning and Resources Committee of the University Council and was recently appointed Chair of Regional Development Australia Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast, by Federal Minister Kristy McBain MP.

    In 2023 he joined Flower Group as Venture Partnerships Director where he is currently working with CSIRO to commercialise their considerable IP catalogue.

    Ryan Hollis

Ryan's guidance resulted in the proactive detection of significant waste in electricity and water use across their operations. The project also gave the CEO and board better transparency on where innovation must occur within their supply chain to remain competitive and sustainable.
